The relationship between sweatshop manufacturing and the sex trade
2004-2006
The murky economies of sweatshop manufacturing and the sex trade co-exist in an oft-entangled manner in many parts of the world. Drew Denny spent two years studying the relationship between these two dark industries by visiting factories and interviewing women in Central America and Southeast Asia. In order to carry out this research, Drew drove from Panama to Canada and spent six months making her way from Thailand to Indonesia via Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, China, and Japan.
